About Me

Hailing from Co. Laois, Erin began her performance studies under Patricia Finnegan Newell at the tender age of nine. She received her first vocal prize at the EBS Feis Ceoil in 2004 and went on to form the Vltava String Quartet in 2006.  

 

In conjunction with her BA International studies at NUI Maynooth, Erin spent a year in Leipzig, Germany, where she specialised in German song. She studied under the acclaimed Virginia Kerr for 7 years and is now under the tutelege of  Sylvia O’ Regan.

 

In 2014, Erin received 1st prize for Lieder at the Newpark Festival Dublin. Erin has appeared with many ensembles such as County Kildare Orchestra, Midlands Orchestra, the Revenue Choir, Christ Church Cathedral Choir, and is also noted for her recitals at Castletown House, Emo Court, Christ Church Cathedral and the Music Library, Dublin.

 

She is a past member of the Irish Youth Choir, Leipziger Universitätschor, and the Maynooth University Chamber Choir. The choirs have afforded her the opportunity to sing at venues such as the Metropolitan Club New York, Leighton Concert Hall Notre Dame, and at the international choral festival Canta en Primavera, Malaga. 

In 2015, the Maynooth University Chamber Choir were awarded the Pavarotti Trophy as “Choir of the World” at the Eisteddfod music festival, Llangollen,Wales. This title led to an extensive tour of USA and China where Erin premiered Michael McGlynn’s arrangement of China’s most famous song ‘Mo Li Hua’. 

 

She has also performed for the Governor and Mayor of New York as well as President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtarain and also in the National Concert Hall as soprano soloist in Patrick Cassidy’s Children of Lir under the baton of David Brophy. 

 

Erin completed a Masters degree in Performance & Musicology at Maynooth University in 2015 and has been teaching at Maynooth Education Campus ever since. There, Erin has acted as musical director for 3 large scale productions as well as conducting the various choirs on campus as well as in the wider community.

 

 

In May 2020, Erin was awarded ‘Best Musical Director’ in the nationwide StageWise School Musical Awards Scheme and in March 2021, Erin received 2nd prize in the Feis Ceoil Mezzo Soprano Solo Cup.
